FIGHTERS GUILD ; KNIGHT
NAME: Eden Islora Dire
AGE & BIRTHDAY: 24 & Feb. 21st ; Pisces
JOB CLASS: Squire (12) → Monk (17) → Knight (22)
WEAPON: Spear & Buckler. Decent with a short sword.
MARITAL STATUS: Single.
PARENTS: Xavier (father) & Aribelle (mother)
SIBLINGS: has like 3 or something
Eden is small. She's small but sturdy. Unlike some of her counterparts, she's not bulky. She is often believed to be weak when fully covered, but once her clothing is removed it is revealed that her body is well-muscled. She basically lives out of her uniform, but when prompted to take a day off, she wears dresses and sometimes bands or flowers in her hair. She has a single earring on her left ear that her mother gave her and a pendant she never takes off that her father gave her. She keeps her blonde hair cut short, because she finds it easier to deal with than having to braid her hair every morning.
Eden in a word is very resilient. Even in the worst situations, she has a strong sense of optimism and a surprising amount of resourcefulness. Having grown up without much of a family, she's taken to making her own, rebuking all things negative and embracing all things positive. She tries very hard to fight all forms of depression by surrounding herself with happy things, like friends, parties, and bright vibrant colors.
At times she may come off as clumsy, silly, or possibly air-headed due to her cheery nature. She has proven her competence time and time again...even if her ideas are either a little morbid or far-fetched. they're still GOOD ideas. Due to her high involvement in creativity and social networking, she has a knack for thinking of things quickly. Her sense of humor is a bit dark, but it helps her get through uncomfortable or dire situations with a smile.
She likes to make sure everyone is around her is okay, or happy. She enjoys making them feel safe and giving them a sense of hope. If you haven't run into Eden, you will! She's an extremely social creature! Though she may be a little awkward if she doesn't know you at first, once she gets used to you, just hang on for the ride! She's pretty straight forward when it comes to what she means. She can keep a secret, however.
When it comes to doing what's right, she's the loudest voice, especially if her friends are at stake. She's a driving, urging force behind the group to keep them moving when they feel that nothing is worth trying for. Determined and strong, she will carry anyone who needs it, metaphorically, because it'd be funny to watch physically, though she'd probably try if she had to.
The knight does have limits, however, and has driven herself to exhaustion with her attempts. Keeping a smile isn't as easy as everyone seems to think, but her overall goal is to not worry anyone.
1. Parents are dead.
2. Youngest of four siblings.
3. Has several healthy long-term relationships.
4. Loves shiny things.
5. Extremely girly.
Because of her cheerful nature and youth, a lot of people do not take her seriously. The amount of influence she has is very limited. She is very passionate and often lets it affect her decisions. She's very quick, but not very strong. She's a little clumsy as well.
Eden is resilient. She may get knocked down, but she doesn't stay down. She has faith and trust in her fellow soldiers. Despite her optimism, she has a healthy dose of reality. She understands the world isn't run on rainbows and sunshine, but she's not let the dark and dreary drag her down.
Eden Islora Dire didn't come from idyllic home. She didn't have a mom and a dad, she had three older siblings and a rather hefty woman with a stick.
Being born the last of the four, quite aways from the third, she was passed around from sibling to sibling. Sometimes, they liked to take care of her. Other times, she was left to fend for herself. Her parents spent a lot of time working the fields before her mother ran off with a man who promised her adventure and her father just died of heartbreak. Little did he know that his wife would turn up dead as well not too much later. She was found in a ditch not far from the city walls. The kids never talked about it with Eden. She just assumed things were going on as normal.
Soon the eldest had decided they should move to the city to look for work. What actually happened is that he dropped them all off at an orphanage and struck out on his own. He said he'd send them money, but it never came. That didn't matter much. What mattered was the other three stayed together and kept each other safe. That was before her older sister fell in love.
She too ended up leaving. She married and started a family of her own. This was a family that moved far away and left Eden with her only remaining sister. Although she cherished her sister and her happiness, she was afraid she'd be left alone. Everyone had died or left and there was only the two of them. And to her luck, she eventually got ill and passed away as well.
Despite her family's death and separation, she had made friends in her new home. They helped and supported her and the old sturdy woman with the stick became something of a second mother. She had been scary at first, but she was simply strict. She didn't know what happened to her brother, but her sister had married happily. Eden had to believe it. She would believe it and when she was old enough, she would visit her in her home. That was the light the girl held on to as she grew older.
Not having much direction in her life, she tried to think of what to do. The girl wasn't good at sewing or cooking. She hated cleaning and wasn't much for books. She didn't have the heart for pickpocketing, even though she knew that some people did it because they needed to, not so much because they wanted to.
Growing up in the slums of Emillion should have given her a bleak outlook on life. She helped a lot of people without getting much thanks and they also believed they were taking advantage of her. She understood that it looked like she was a fool for doing as she did, but that never stopped her from doing the right thing. Sometimes that included hitting people to return purses they'd stolen and returning them to the person they'd been stolen from. Luckily, this often affordered her some sort of reward.
Her actions being seen by one of the guard, she was recruited into the fighter's guild. Being a squire wasn't what she wanted, but it was something to do. She was getting a nicer place to sleep, clothes to wear, and she was being treated a lot better than she had at home. She was also able to build a whole new family with other recruits and work out a lot of things she'd never actually thought of. She found herself attempting to lift up others. Eden had seen enough grief to know that if you didn't pull yourself up, it could crush you. That's why she found training so therapeutic.
Physically working out aggression worked for her in ways she couldn't imagine. Punching and kicking things was a good focus for her anger, but she wasn't focused in a way that was beneficial. Despite her smiles and her jokes, it was quite clear when she fought that she was releasing a lot of problems behind her strikes and blows. Becoming a beserker never appealed to her and so she was pushed on the path to becoming a monk. It was a path that would help her immensely.
She thought she'd come to terms with her loss and the hand dealt to her, but she hadn't. Through meditation and study, she found that there were a lot of issues that were still unresolved. As she faced and addressed each problem with her own way, applying the teachings she learned, her skill improved. There were less and less things hindering her progress. Eden began to feel light and unencumbered and eventually started to help guide other monk students along the way as well. Being happy was less of a struggle and became a reality. She didn't smile to keep from crying, but smiled because she felt like smiling.
While staying in the city where she was familiar felt ideal, she opted to go join the Valendian Rangers. She'd spent most of her life in the walls and wanted to see what it was like outside. Not ready to go out into the world at large, she settled into the lands around the city instead.
Having already gained control of her body, she thought to follow a different endeavor. A sword was never something she considered to be the right weapon for her. She thought of simply using a staff, but understood that sometimes it just wouldn't be enough. And in the end, she chose a spear.
Switching class training was hard. The philosophy is different, but she feels she's met a great harmony between the two. She's gotten better with the spear in the last two years, but she still feels there is much to learn in the ways of incorporating it with what she already knows her body can do.
